Pyrgos is a maze of narrow pathways, steps, chapels and, squares - it used to be the capital of Santorini until the early 1800s. The village is formed by traditional houses built all around the Venetian castle, and the small streets follow the shape of the hill.
We went there late afternoon - from the top, we had this sweeping view of the island - we hang around in Penelope's cafe in the Theotokou church and, enjoyed one of the most beautiful and sublime sunset in my life.
